Oral Surgery & Dental Implants

DevelopDent · Legazpi Village, Makati CBD

Surgical procedures and implant rehabilitation, planned and performed by the treating dentist with atraumatic technique. Cases are scoped honestly — what can be done well in-clinic, what calls for a specialist referral, and what conservative options exist before any irreversible step.

Atraumatic by design

Surgical technique at DevelopDent prioritises minimal trauma to bone and soft tissue. Patients regularly note minimal post-operative swelling and discomfort — a direct outcome of meticulous, controlled execution.

Conservative first, surgical second

Surgical procedures are recommended when non-surgical alternatives have been tried or honestly weighed against. Surgery is not the default answer.

Clear scope of practice

The treating dentist performs the surgical procedures listed here. When a case calls for a maxillofacial surgeon or specialist beyond this scope, the referral is made clearly and with the right specialist in mind.

Already been recommended implant or surgical treatment?

Surgical and implant plans are common reasons to seek a second opinion — particularly when bone grafting, sinus lift, or multiple implants are part of the recommendation. DevelopDent offers structured second opinion consultations without pressure to switch providers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about oral surgery

What anaesthesia is used for surgical procedures?
Local anaesthesia is the standard. For longer or more anxious patients, the treating dentist will discuss adjunct options such as conscious sedation referrals. General anaesthesia is not performed in-clinic — when it is appropriate, the case is referred to a centre equipped for it.
Can I have an implant the same day a tooth is extracted?
Sometimes — when the extraction socket is intact, infection-free, and bone volume is sufficient. This is called immediate implant placement and is decided at the extraction appointment. Where conditions favour a staged approach (extract first, allow healing, place implant later), the treating dentist will say so.
Is wisdom tooth removal always necessary?
No. Wisdom teeth that are fully erupted, in functional positions, and easily cleaned can often be left alone. Removal is recommended when they are impacted, partially erupted, causing infection, crowding adjacent teeth, or unable to be kept clean. The treating dentist will explain the reasoning per tooth.
What is recovery typically like?
Recovery depends on the procedure. Simple extractions typically 3 to 5 days of mild discomfort. Wisdom teeth and surgical extractions: 5 to 10 days. Implants: minimal soft tissue discomfort, though the implant takes 3 to 6 months to integrate with the bone underneath. Detailed written aftercare instructions are given for every surgical case.
Do you perform all oral surgery in-clinic?
The procedures listed here are performed in-clinic. For maxillofacial surgery, orthognathic (jaw) surgery, or cases requiring general anaesthesia, the treating dentist refers to a specialist. The referral is direct and the reason is explained.
